This file is part of the mailfromd package.
This document describes the actions needed to build the pre-release
or CVS version of the package. See end of file for copying conditions.
* Introduction
This is a *pre-release* version, and not ready for production use yet.
Please send comments and problem reports to <bug-mailfromd@gnu.org.ua>.
If you have taken the sources from CVS you will need the following
packages to build GNU tar. I don't make any extra effort to accommodate
older versions of these packages, so please make sure that you have the
latest stable version.
- Automake <http://www.gnu.org/software/automake/>
- Autoconf <http://www.gnu.org/software/autoconf/>
- Bison <http://www.gnu.org/software/bison/>
- Flex <http://flex.sourceforge.net/>
- Gettext <http://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/>
- Gnulib <http://www.gnu.org/software/gnulib/>
- M4 <http://www.gnu.org/software/m4/>
- Texinfo <http://www.gnu.org/software/texinfo>
* Checking Out the Sources
The following instructions apply if you wish to obtain sources from
the CVS repository:
To checkout the source tree from CVS, issue the following command:
cvs -d :pserver:anoncvs@puszcza.gnu.org.ua:/cvsroot/mailfromd co mailfromd
This will give you read-only access. If you think you need write access,
contact the mailing list or the author.
* Bootstrapping
After checking out the sources, you will need to _bootstrap_ them. To do
so follow the steps described below. Notice, that you only have to do it
once. Packaged alpha versions do not need bootstrapping.
1. Change to the source tree directory
cd mailfromd
2. Populate the source tree with the necessary files from Gnulib. Run:
gnulib-tool --import argp obstack snprintf strtok_r fprintftime
(make sure gnulib-tool is in your path or supply its full file name).
3. Link or copy src/daemon.c to lib:
ln src/daemon.c lib/
4. Create the configuration framework:
autoreconf -i -f -s
5. Configure and build the package as described in the documentation. See
http://mailfromd.software.gnu.org.ua/manual/html_node/Building
